Le Clafoutis Restaurant
Wednesday, April 9, 2008
This small tasty restaurant is the place where celebrities go when they want to eat in public and not be seen eventhough they want to be seen. It is less crowded than its popular cousin down the street so it is easier to get a table here but on a warm sunny day you will still have a hard time.

Le Clafoutis Martini****

Can I say Fruitastic, this martini has the perfect balance of sweet fruitiness and alcohol to keep you ordering more. Its like Will from Will & Grace sure he is fruity as all hell but he is enough man to keep you from treating him completly like your girlfriend. So watch out when you order this one it will get you buzzed nickity split.

Crustacean Restaurant

This is probably the only place where you don't have to be Jesus to walk on water. Tucked away on a corner in Beverly Hills, this restaurant has a young feel with an older crowd. Enjoy live music some nights and great food for happy hour. Now for the martinis..........I wouldn't have known they made any if I hadn't brought a magnifying glass. Well not exactly but their martini menu could have a few more options.

Cucumber Martini*
Well how'dee y'all? Issah suuuure did have lots ah fun on dat der farm! This must have been the reason why Huckleberry Finn was always so mischievous cause this ain't nothin but a country bumkins drink. Whoever thought of the "Cucumber Martini" needs to be shipped back where they came from. Most likely Kentucky or somewhere around there. This martini tasted like it grew on a farm, was harvested, and thrown in my glass. Strange but it tasted EXACTLY like a cucumber. Cucumber is such an outrageously disgusting flavor. I think I would have preferred they had thrown some vinegar in the glass and called it a pickle martini. Anywhoo, won't be drinking that again.

Aqua Lounge
Wednesday, April 2, 2008

One of the few clubs in Beverly Hills. This small and intimate (by Hollywood standards) spot is where you can brush shoulders with all the celebrities you see on TV. On this night we saw a several, including the ones that thought they were "celebrities" by being related to someone who was semi-famous.

Raspberry Martini ***
Besides the "I look so boring I put people to sleep" appearance the flavor was smooth, sweet, and tasted exactly like a raspberry. Oh how I longed for decoration though. The drink reminded me of a pretty girl that just needed some help. Similar to Ellen Page. It has potential but it is just not making the cut. I would order this drink again but I’d at least need a sugar crusted rim. Pretty girls need pretty martinis.

Peach Martini**
The bartender must have read boredom all over my face because he made me a drink that would make sure I had a good time by the end of it. It was only a little peachy and it felt like it punched you in the chest after you drank it. It was like Drew Berrymore (the pre-teen years) it looked sweet and innocent but boy it had some issues. I wanted to hurry up and down the drink but realizing I wasn’t a professional I had to take it slow, which made it last longer than I wanted it to.

Sofitel Hotel
The bar at this Beverly Hills hotel is like a club in Hollywood complete with the velvet rope and bouncers to boot. I’m not sure if it was just for show because we walked right in. Love it!

Bolshio Martini**

It is not the cover. It’s what’s on the inside that counts. Yeah right! Like Katie Holmes. Nice, clean and pretty on the outside but WEIRD AS HELL on the inside. My first sip was oh so yummy in my tummy until I got down to the bitter end. Don’t let the sweet mysterious taste of pomegranate and lime juice fool you of the liquid acid at the bottom.

Lychee Martini*
The first drink I just could not finish. I even tried to use a straw to no avail. This syrupy sweet concoction was just sickening. True it tasted exactly like lychee but since that has been deemed the worst fruit on the face of the earth (by yours truly) the drink was just horrid. I know he ain’t technically a "fruit" but damnit Carrot Top this one’s for you! P.S. I eventually sent the drink back.

Peach Martini****

Great drink with a subtle peach taste and real chunks of fresh ripe peaches. Felt like the healthiest party drink I’ve ever had. I loved it. This drink is for those who like to have their cake and eat it too. Get it RICHARD!!!

Grapefruit & Basil Martini**
This tasted just like it sounded. An early morning breakfast with the grandma that hates all things that are young and hip (including you). It was bitterly fresh like Estelle Getty (the mother from "The Golden Girls) just picked it out of their garden and wanted to show you this is how martinis used to be made with gin. This is for the grapefruit lovers only and I am not one of them. At least I could finish it unlike the Lychee Martini.

Acai Blueberry Martini****

In the words of Rachel Ray Yum-O my favorite martini in this lounge. It tasted like a blueberry Lemonade martini, this would be perfect for your barbeque in the summer time. It was a little tart but who couldn’t use a little sass in their life so me being the sassy person that I am I had 2.

Nic's Martini Lounge
Great spot for the young and sexy that don’t mind the company of 30 and 40 year olds. Happy hour has $7 drinks and tasty appetizers that set the tone for the restaurant.

Mango Ginger Martini****

The only martini with the happy hour special, I was hesitant at first thinking it might be a little spicy because of the ginger but it was surprisingly light. It was like Nicole Richie (before the baby) light, yellow and has a little bit of flavor. It didn’t seem like I was drinking alcohol at all but some new flavor of vitamin water I downed 2 in no time at all.

Strawberries and Champagne Martini****

I was feeling lil sexy so I asked for a sexy concoction. And oddly enough it tasted just like Brittany Murphy (well not exactly…not that I know from experience). It was sexy, hip, bubbly and girly it was nice to look at and it tickled your nose just a lil. The thin slices of strawberry gave the drink a little touch of something to make you feel like a girl again (because there are times when I feel like a bitch amongst other things but I don’t have time to go into all of that). If it’s a night with the girls I say order this martini.

Strawberry Martini*
Umm please hold the yogurt and Pez candy! Thanks। This was the absolute thickest martini I’ve ever tasted. This "Pretty in Pink" concoction was more like a smoothie and I know for a fact there had to be strawberry flavored Pez candy mixed in. Reminiscent of the big pink hope Anna Nicole. Just plain gross.

About Me: About Lauren Michele, I am a 20 something racially ambiguous college graduate that is constantly mistaken for a failed model turned food critic. I try to charm the boys with my sweet innocent looks and kill them with my wit and sarcasm. I enjoy partying it up with my girl Jennifer and going to the latest hot spots (sometimes crashing them) to dance the night away. I am a tv whore that will watch anything from the educational to the ignorant to the inspirational. Which contributes to my pool of useless knowledge that allows me to talk/debate about anything under the sun. I love to eat and meet new people and hopefully in my excursions I will get to meet half of the people that I talk about in the blog and not turn into an alcoholic.
